Turkey in the Straw...

I figure I better post this now, since I don't know how much access I'll have for the next few days.

http://esthersguesthouse.ch/sites/schlafenimstrohenglisch.htm

It's like heaven! And yes, I damn well plan on sleeping in the straw just like the animals. Just call me baby Jesus! And it comes with an organic, huge breakfast included in the 21$canadian price. Dear god, I don't know if I'll be able to come back down.

-------------------------------
Location: Paris! (Not really on my list, but I didn't feel like hunting for a hostel at 11pm in Bern, Switzerland, so this is home for tonight)
Wearing: Jeans, green golf shirt, black zip jacket. (Guess who's doing wash tonight!)
Day's Activities: Train train train. Almost 24 hours on trains, and only 2 more to go!
Thing you miss: Not much! I feel so...awesome here.

I jumped off a BRIDGE!

So yesterday, after watching all these kids jump off the bridge and laughing at how stupid they were, I became inspired and last night I realized that I am going to join the stupids and JUMP! Its not just a tiny leap though...this is a big big bridge - http://kinkodev.free.fr/register/cp/cp_portugal2.jpg . Yea, see that bottom beam with all the cars on it...I stood there (in my knickers) and jumped! It was just me, Ashley (this awesome American girl) and these two Canadian guys, and we all jumped. Unfortunately, I havent perfected the art of landing and now the back of my thighs are bright red and I am really having trouble sitting down...my dear tailbone is hurtin. Also, for all you potential bridge jumpers, dont wear those boyshort underwear...they can induce a lot of pain...

From Sea to Shining Sea...

Well, for all those non-believers, we finally made it to Portugal!

That´s right. Ever since Rome (er...almost 2 weeks ago, I think. I can´t remember?) we´ve been on a mythical journey for the shining lands and coasts of Portugal. This was the journey that took us to Munich, Nice, Barcelona, and a million places in between, but we finally made it. Now we relax in the sun for a few days, before I made a mad dash North, in order to make it to Norway for the 7th of August.

With a name like Porto, the local town can only really be known for two things. It´s fantastic views of the water, and the great port-wine that it makes. (Man, do I sound like a tour guide, or what!) We spent the afternoon trecking up and down the steep hills on the other side of the river visiting a bunch of different little port vinyards. After 2 glasses at each stop, the walk home took considerably less time than the walk there, even if it wasn´t quite in a strait line. Not sure what the plan is for tomorrow, but I think I´m ready to head to less sunburn-inducing weather. My poor freckles are going nuts!

Hope things at home are going well for everyone. Yes, Jordon, the cat normally does spaz, and just feed the fish whenever you like. (no time left for a real email) Talk to you all soon. And come on people, send the addresses! I really do want to send postcards! It gives me something to do on my crazy 27 hour train ride I have coming up. Talk to you all later!
